Meghan Cano, named Board President of the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers

Austin, Texas – The Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers (TAAHP), the state’s pre-eminent voice for the development of housing for low-income communities, today announced the appointment of Meghan Cano as president of its board of directors, making Cano the organization’s first TAAHP leader who is a former resident of a low-income housing facility. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Cano also becomes the youngest board president to serve TAAHP in the group’s 27-year history.

“I am honored to serve an organization committed to affordable housing in Texas that also stands as a model for the nation,” said Cano. “As the housing crisis in Texas persists, it is more urgent than ever to educate policymakers and advocate for action that leads to the creation of housing for families in need across the state.”

As CEO of CHR Partners – a San Antonio-based non-profit that provides social services to more than 15,000 Texas families each month – Cano brings more than 20 years of experience in affordable housing finance and advocacy. A long-time TAAHP board member, she has played a critical role in advancing equitable housing policies across Texas, advocating for legislation and funding to expand access to affordable homes.
